MAJOR tlou2 spoilers i have A Complaint ok here we go:

i dont think ive gotten to the main part of the game that most of the discourse is about but i think it was really fucking wild of naughty dog to release tlou2 on fucking JUNETEENTH in 2020 after they had FOUR black supporting characters (sam, henry, marlene, riley) die horribly in the first game (one of whom was NOT infected, but was mercilessly executed by joel himself, even after she begged for her life), and then chose to have ellie mercilessly TORTURE AND EXECUTE yet another black woman in the sequel, especially one who was INNOCENT of wrongdoing (she did not torture OR kill joel, merely held ellie down so ellie couldn’t stop it). nora was protecting a white woman and attempted to die protecting her, and instead got tortured and murdered by a different white woman. HELLO?? like i get what this game is trying to say about violence and i even agree with most of it and i KNOW that lots of people die in post-apo media as a rule! but i can’t help but notice that most of the characters who are survive are white and most of the characters who don’t are black and i especially can’t help but notice we’re supposed to feel bad for ELLIE after that whole debacle, and not nora!!! like, nora is the ONLY member of that little anti-joel squad who was black and she dies first. it would have been stupidly easy to swap her with one of the white characters or even one of the nonblack characters of color during conception or production, or even add more black characters so she wasn’t the only one. all it would take is like 2 brain cells! 

and like look. im normally the kind of person who prefers to turn my brain off when i digest fiction bc im just here to escape the misery of the real world and i try not to critique the ~wokeness~ of things too much unless it is just glaringly awful or annoying! but maybe! i wouldn’t be so fucking annoyed if this wasn’t their fifth black character and their THIRD black woman and they didn’t fucking release it on JUNETEENTH of all the fucking dates they could have picked afer being delayed about 6000 times like jesus fucking christ
